Sheringham RNLI Lifeboat Day was a great draw for visitors and locals, with the Sheringham lifeboat being launched to perform joint excercises with the Coastguard, including helicopter support. Demonstrations by the crew and an opportunity for visiting youngsters to ‘have a go’ were, as always, popular with visitors.
A regular component of Sheringham Lifeboat Day is the free concert by the Sheringham Shantymen. Singing and playing at the top of the launch ramp, in front of a mural of Sheringham lifeboats, and looking out to sea – a fine ingredient for a British seaside holiday.
The service of thanksgiving at the end of the day was well attended, as always, and the final launch of the lifeboat, heading west into the sunset for the evening service at Blakeney, was a fitting end to a perfect day.
